Innolux’s New Factory Hall — Toward Energy Efficiency with Ewona’s Insulation Solutions

27.11.2025

The Finnish lighting manufacturer Innolux carried out a major investment in 2024–2025 by building two new halls in Kerava. The new logistics and storage centre offers efficient facilities for the company’s growth — and its structures rely on Ewona’s insulation material: allergen-safe Ewonawool, made from recycled material.

Structures built to withstand time and changing conditions

According to Innolux’s CEO Jukka Jokiniemi, the design of the new halls began at the beginning of 2024, with the goal of constructing energy-efficient, responsible, and easy-to-maintain spaces.

“We thought for a long time about what kind of structure to choose. In the end, we opted for load-bearing wooden structures with eight-inch planks and Ewonawool insulation in between. We wanted to build the elements ourselves in our own facilities, and Ewonawool was excellent for that — easy to work with and pleasant to handle.”

Because the halls’ temperature varies depending on usage, the insulation material had to be flexible and handle moisture well.

“Ewona’s solutions performed excellently with moisture. In addition, the wool does not itch or shed dust, which significantly improved work ergonomics. These kinds of aspects become prominent when building manually.”

Sound insulation and sustainability in one package

The buildings’ location right beside the Lahti motorway added another challenge: noise.

“Noise reduction was an important factor for us. Ewonawool, together with the other structures, greatly reduced traffic noise. If we had used polyurethane panels, the noise inside the hall would have been multiple times higher.”

Sustainability was also central throughout the project.

“It was important for us to use as many renewable and recycled materials as possible. Ewona’s products supported this ideology perfectly.”

Result: energy-efficient hall and pleasant working environment

Thanks to Ewona’s acoustic and insulation materials, Innolux’s new halls achieved an A-energy class and an excellent acoustic environment. The buildings combine energy efficiency, sustainable construction, and acoustic comfort — values shared by both Innolux and Ewona.
